ACCA “BHZ CONECTION: CONNECTING YOUNG PEOPLE FOR THE FUTURE”. ACCA has recently set up a language project in Belo Horizonte (Brazil), the aim of which is to find volunteers to teach Brazilian children foreign languages. Giving these children the ability to speak another language is a passport to a better future, helping them to reduce the impact of their economic situation through education.

If you are visiting Brazil on a gap year or a short holiday, if you fancy doing something more than idling the day away on the beach, why not spend some time in ACCA's language project teaching what comes most naturally to you - your mother tongue. The project is based in Belo Horizonte a major city located in the heartland of Brazil from where you can easily access other parts of the country. Once in Belo Horizonte you would be living with a local host family, all friends of ACCA's. You can volunteer for as long as you like, but we would recommend a minimum of one month of teaching. We believe this time is necessary for you to develop your teaching skills and to build a connection with your students, and while you're there you might even pick up some Portuguese! We offer general guidelines for the preparation of classes, including suggestions for teaching activities and teaching material. But a sucessful class cannot be ready-made as the best classes are taught in accordance with the students' age, interests and knowledge. This is a pioneering project, so we would like to count on you to give continuity to the project by leaving your best lesson plans with us.
