BHZ Connection - A Proposal for Education, Culture and Social Development.
The project is an opportunity for volunteers from UK, France, Holland, USA, Germany and elsewhere to work with Brazilian children to teach foreign languages and other skills.
Giving these children the ability to speak another language is a passport
to a better future, helping them to reduce the impact of their
economic situation through education
The project uses the teaching of foreign languages as an educational tool via the production of plays, educational games, music, sport and other activities that allow the student to learn English.
This project benefits children and adolescents from different communities around Belo Horizonte such as neighborhoods : Alto Vera Cruz, Vera Cruz, Saudade, Taquarilo,Vila Fátima and among others. The focus will emphasis on the value of the local culture while strengthening families and communities and the Multicultural Awareness.
Through cooperation we can promote the dream of a better world, contributing and working effectively and not as mere spectators of this change.
The creation of a non governmental organization is a gesture of people who understand their role in making the country's future and realize that if they want a better world, action should be take, otherwise the situation that is not satisfactory will not change.

If you are visiting Brazil on a gap year or a short holiday, if you fancy doing something more than idling the day away on the beach, why not spend some time in ACCA's language project teaching what comes most naturally to you - your mother tongue.
The project is based in Belo Horizonte a major city located in the heartland of Brazil from where you can easily access other parts of the country. Once in Belo Horizonte you would be living with a local host family, all friends of ACCA's.
You can volunteer for as long as you like, but we would recommend a minimum of one month of teaching. We believe this time is necessary for you to develop your teaching skills and to build a connection with your students, and while you're there you might even pick up some Portuguese!
We offer general guidelines for the preparation of classes, including suggestions for teaching activities and teaching material. But a sucessful class cannot be ready-made as the best classes are taught in accordance with the students' age, interests and knowledge. This is a pioneering project, so we would like to count on you to give continuity to the project by leaving your best lesson plans with us.
